Til Hamingju, VG! / Congratulations, VG!

[ÍS] Ég vil fyrst og fremst þakka öllum sem hafa sýnt mér stuðning, bæði í framboði og á kosningadaginn og óska einnig öllum öðrum sem komust inn á listann til hamingju. Satt að segja geta allir meðlimir Vinstri Grænna óskað sér til hamingju með listann. Frambjóðendurnir endurspegla vilja kjósendanna, og hjá Vinstri Grænum þýðir það að við erum fjölbreyttur, skapandi og hugmyndaríkur flokkur - hver einasti meðlimur sannar það. Ég tel líka að Íslendingar séu orðnir dauðþreyttir á ríkisstjórn sem vill ekki hlusta á sína eigin þjóð, sem býður ekkert nýtt, og vill ekki sinna þeim verkefnum sem eru fyrir framan okkur, að gera Ísland að fyrirmyndarlandi. Þetta er baráttan sem við leggjum orku okkar í núna og ég hef trú á að Vinstri Grænir muni bera vilja þjóðarinnar inn á Alþingi í vor.

[EN] First of all, I want to thank everyone who has given me their support, both during the campaign and on election day, and I want to congratulate everyone else who made it onto the list. To be honest, every member of the Left-Greens can congratulate themselves for the list of candidates we have. Candidates reflect the will of the voters, and for the Left-Greens this means that we’re a varied, creative, and idea-rich party – every single member proves that. I also believe that Icelanders have grown exhausted of a government that doesn’t want to listen to its own people, that offers nothing new, and does not want to take up the task before us, to make Iceland a model country. That is the fight that we intend to undertake now, and I believe that the Left-Greens will carry the will of the people into parliament this spring.
